A beautiful gift from Denmark!

Today I received a special package from Denmark, from the lovely Susanne! She wanted to thank me for sending her a bit of Greek aroma, so she honored me by sending me a gorgeous cake stand with the typical Blue Fluted Mega design! It is just so unique! Thank you Susanne!

Now I need to "bake'' a special cake, and I was wondering if there is something typically danish... Any help?

  1. Dear Anthoula
I am so glad you like it, and I would like to empasize that I didn´t painted the cake stand myself. I am afraid, I have forgotten the name of the artist. But the pattern is from Royal Copenhagen, and is a modern version of some very old expensive dinnerware.
A typical danish cake must be vanille wrechs, wichs are small buttercookies with real vanille formed as small wrechs, usually made through a traditional mincher with a special mould.. its difficult to explain..I´ll try and find a picture for you..and a prescription ;-)
    Love, Susanne

Can you make a sweet transparent, like jelly, so as not to cover the beautiful decoration?

However Susanne just sent me photos of the traditional danish vanilla cookies, so I'll give it a try and we'll decide later...;-))
